Movie Review : Tears of the Stars ( Luha Sang Bulalakaw)

A young couple in the island of Guimaras faces the challenge of a forthcoming separation. Few days before Samuel leaves Aileen for a better job opportunity in a distant city, the latter, feeling immensely desperate, tries to stop him from leaving.
Making the most out of their remaining time together, they patiently wait for a shooting star before facing the consequences of being apart.

REVIEW

The short film is quite generous on showcasing the locations in every frame of the scene, generous on delivering the emotions of the story. Generous on highlighting the good values of the people of the region and for me that's very admirable, because they delivered the narrative of the story, incorporating all the important aspects of culture, tradition and the art.

The dialect was different but it gives the viewers the bond and makes us feel related to the story. The film brought its viewers to the exact situation and location of the story, which is very genius. The build up and excitement as the film progresses was there with very mind blowing ending, that will surely gives you chills.

The flow of the story is simple but done and executed with perfection. The cinematography, lights, sound and editing were all competitive and has a great potential. The people behind this movie are so brilliant and they have this edge towards the international scene. To everyone who's behind this masterpiece congratulations and thank you for sharing your talent with us. I'm so proud of you guys and I can feel that the there's a brighter future on the Philippine film industry. I know that you guys are too young, but never stop drop learning and aiming high.

Film Review : Just The 3 Of Us

My notes on Just The 3 Of Us: 1. The movie reminded me so much of this late 90's rom-com with Matthew Perry as a happy-go-lucky bachelor who had a one night stand with a sultry Salma Hayek in Vegas. She ended up pregnant, they got married, and then discovered each other's personalities while fixing family and work issues. It was called Fools Rush In and I would have asked you to rent it in a local Video City, but I think all of their stores closed ages ago. 2. In this version though, the girl CJ (Jennylyn Mercado) would rather stalk the potential father and be the emotional punching bag of Uno (John Lloyd Cruz) who had a bad temper (F-words everywhere!), an a-hole attitude ("So what? Buhay ko 'to. Kahit mag-swimming ako sa alak wala ka pakialam!"), crazy reasoning (he wanted to take care of CJ and the baby, but made her sleep on an uncomfortable sofa bed in the living room with poor ventilation), and a drinking problem that were all supposedly reasonab...
