Teatro Pinas Review : Silent Sky

The piece narrates the possibilities that will happen if our mind will set aside barrier such as doubt, gender and other things that the society tells us we cannot do. The story is simple and yet has a very strong impact on how mankind fulfill its destiny, how we must follow what our heart's desires despite of all the challenges that comes our way.

Teatro Pinas Review : ANG DRESSING ROOM: Kung Saan Lubusang Pangungulila Ang Dulot Ng Agos Ng Panahon

THE DRESSING ROOM: That Which Flows Away Ultimately Becomes Nostalgia, is truly a remarkable piece seeing both performances of both female set on the first staging and now the male set, shows the uniformity of the artistic direction at the same time the freedom of each artists to execute the given role that they are portraying. Uniform, in a manner that the message is clear and how the artistic direction was executed. It has an intelligent way of showing how the different sets of actors according to gender executed their characters. Also, how the chosen language affect the audience and the flow of the story. Of course people, or locals rather would be more comfortable to hear their own language, but depending on the crowd both of them has the same level of ingenuity, humor and emotions.

LEAN - A FILIPINO MUSICAL shall also feature powerful catchy songs that breathe new life

27 year-old UP Diliman student and noted "iskolar ng bayan" named Leandro Alejandro was shot and killed in September 19, 1987. As the iconic student activist, Lean fought for national democracy in the university and in the nation. He is one of the unsung heroes who have sacrificed their lives during the turbulent days of the martial law. His life has defined an era of student activism and his work still inspires the youth today. Students of the University of the Philippines, being a state-funded institution, are called “Iskolar ng Bayan” or People’s Scholars. The description gained political weight during the First Quarter Storm (FQS) in the 70s, a time of discontent by a generation of Baby Boomers. The description also carried with it the aphorism “Serve the people.” Described as a Filipino left wing activist and nationalist, UP student leader Lean Alejandro actively fought the dictatorship in the 1980s. Lean became a member of the Youth for Nationalism and Democracy...

Theater Review : Ateneo BlueRep' The Addams Family

For someone like me who grew up in the 90s and If I will be asked to rank my favorite movies or tv shows when I was kid, The Addams Family is definitely one of the shows that I wouldn’t mind putting on top of my chart. The impact of either the film or the animated series is truly overwhelming that I still recall their iconic theme song (and that includes the funny finger snapping introduction and witty gestures). Addams Family has been adapted in different form of media.

Theater Review : Dulaang UP' The Dressing Room

Once the spotlight fades to oblivion, the true stories of laughters and pain commence. Dulaang UP closes it’s 40th Theater Season by challenging both the intellect and affection, with the staging of “Ang Dressing Room: Kung Saan Lubusang Pangungulila ang Dulot ng Agos ng Panahon”. The play is a Filipino translation of a Shimizu Kunio original, “The Dressing Room: That which flows away ultimately becomes nostalgia.” The play shows 4 similarly different characters, each fueled by their own desire to take the spotlight as Theater thespians, but haunted by memories and limitations. Each character, simply named Actress A,B,C, and D, shares with the audience the lives they long for and how frustratingly hard it is to attain such stature.
