Honoring the life and legacy of National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor with a necrological service

  The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) join the nation in commemorating the life and remarkable contributions of National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, belovedly known as Nora Aunor, in a necrological service on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila. Arrival honors will begin at 8:30 AM, followed by a tribute program at 9:00 AM. The state funeral rites will continue at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City. Did you know that Tacloban came from the word " taklub "? It came from a dialect called "waray" which means "trap" or "to cover". It is also an equipment for catching fish, crabs, and shrips by trapping them inside this taklub. Likewise, "taklub" was also used as a title for a documentary movie directed by the internationally acclaimed, award-winning director, Brillante Mendoza . Veteran indie filmmaker Lav Diaz has added more achievements in his career by collecting four major awards including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Director for his 2014 indie drama, “Mula Sa Kung Ano Ang Noon” at the 38th Gawad Urian which aired live on Cinema One last Tuesday night (June 16). Some memories do come back to haunt you. Mara Fabre (Nora Aunor) is diagnosed with early onset dementia, In the hope of jogging her memory, she is brought by her cousin's family to her hometown in a remote island in Batanes.
