BREATHE LIFE Sikuna: A Collaborative Arts Festival

With the aim of celebrating Filipino artists who live and breathe for their craft, Para Sa Siningis, once again, preparing us the most unique and diverse creations at their upcoming collaborative arts festival called, “Sikuna.” Running on its second year,Sikuna combines the two Filipino words “sining,” which translates to “art,” and “kuna,” which translates to"cradle.” The festival was first launched on August 1, 2015 at the Century City Mall Events Center in Makati City.

The Historical Commission is grateful for the discovery of this rare photo of Mabini by the U.S.-based Kevin Soriano Perez in an auction and did not hesitate to bid for it, even it cost him much. A reproduction of the photo is one of the highlights of the Commission's Mabini Shrine Tanauan. Soriano, who was also from the same barangay where Mabini was born, in Talaga, Tanauan City, Batangas, will "repatriate" this rare Mabini photo and will deposit at the Commission for posterity purposes.

One Night Only : Hugot Sa Rosas by Ballet Philippines

For one night only, Ballet Philippines 2’s acclaimed concert, Hugot Sa Rosas, returns for a performance at the CCP Little Theater. Set to music from Vincent de Jesus’ Songs to Slash Your Wrist By, the show highlights the talents of BP’s junior company and its new breed of dancers and choreographers. The show premiered at Ballet Philippines Studio One in February 2015, as part of Fringe MNL. Original Pilipino Music shines in this production, with songs sung by industry icons such as AizaSeguerra, Noel Cabangon, Jett Pangan, and OJ Mariano interpreted into dance form by Ballet Philippines’ young choreographers. The performances include Erl Emmanuel Sorilla’s “As Long as I Can Wait”, set to Pangan’s vocals, and “SirangOyayi” to Cabangon’s “Duwag”, as well as other songs performed by Daryl Ong, Sweet Plantado, KalilaAguilos, Daryl Reyes, and AizaSeguerra.
