Tanghalang Ateneo’s Alpha Kappa Omega has its own take on the adaptation of the Filipino classic film “Batch ‘81.” The existence of the the core of its narrative was there but the flow and how things executed was adapted to the present time. Some scenes has been made and adapted to the present situation to make things relevant specially to the young ones.

Tanghalang Ateneo, the longest-running theater company of the Ateneo De Manila University, opened its 38th season: De/Constructing Narratives with a thought-provoking play titled Boy by Anna Ziegler. Cholo Barretto portrayed the title role and he lived up to the challenge very well. There was a clear-cut line between him as the real Adam Turner and what has been an imaginary/pretentious character Samantha.

This will go onstage at the Ateneo de Manila’s Black Box Theater (Fine Arts Annex) on October 19-November 12.

Tanghalang Ateneo, the longest-running theater company of the Loyola Schools of the Ateneo de Manila University, will end its 36th Season: Navigating Identities this February with "GODOT5: Five Ruminations on Samuel Beckett's 'En Attendant Godot'". The production, an exploration of the tragedy of waiting and of hope, will use both the English translation of the play by Nobel Prize Winner for Literature Samuel Beckett and a new Filipino translation by Palanca winner Guelan Varela-Luarca. A brief synopsis: Vladimir and Estragon meet near a tree along a road. They converse, bicker, argue, laugh, and agree on several topics of conversation; all of which are merely distractions to help them wait for the arrival of Godot. While waiting, two other men arrive, Pozzo and Lucky. They join Vladimir and Estragon for a while but eventually leave. After they do so, a boy arrives and tells Vladimir and Estragon that Godot won't be arriving today but will surely do so tomo...

Tanghalang Ateneo Present Rite Passage : Sa Pagtubu Kang Tahud

After a successful production of Han Ong's "Middle Finger" last August, the company now focuses its attention on Glenn Sevilla Mas's "Rite of Passage: Sa Pagtubu kang Tahud (An adaptation of a Kinaray-a short story by Maria Milagros Geremia Lachica). The play was first produced by Tanghalang Pilipino for the Virgin Labfest, the Cultural Center of the Philippines' annual festival of new plays in 2005. Tanghalang Ateneo, the longest-running theater company of the Loyola Schools of the Ateneo de Manila University, celebrates its 36th season with the theme “Navigating Identities”. To articulate this, the company will stage plays that explore man’s need to find himself and his place in the world.

Tanghalang Ateneo, the longest-running theater company of the Loyola Schools, Ateneo de Manila University is celebrating its 36th season for the school year 2014-2015. Growing from a fledgling band of student players to one of the country’s leading school-based theater companies, Tanghalang Ateneo proudly announces its 36th season line-up of three productions with the theme “Navigating Identities” revolving around man's need to define himself and his significance in the world. Tanghalang Ateneo will collaborate with directors JK Anicoche, Ed Lacson, Jr., and Ron Capinding, three of the country's most dynamic theater artists, in bringing these plays to life.
