Internationally-acclaimed Filipino director Brillante Mendoza will be featured in the first of a series of exhibitions lined up in the last quarter of the year to celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Manila’s 40th anniversary.

“Ma Rosa” Synopsis  ROSA,owns a small community convenience storeconnected to their home in the slums of Metropolitan Manila. Together with her husband, NESTOR, they use their convenient store as cover-up for selling illegal narcotic, Methamphetamines. their fate changes one Saturday night when their neighbor BONG-BONG, who works as a fly-by-night parking attendant,begs her to sell him a small pack of Methamphetamine without knowing that it’s a ploy for a pending buy-bustoperation leading to Rosa and Nestor’s warrantless arrest by a police team led by Sergeant CASTOR.

2009 Cannes Best Director Brillante Mendoza talks about MA‘ ROSA, his inspiration,and the challenges in making the film. Describe Ma’Rosa in one sentence MA‘ ROSA shows us a glimpse of a Filipino family set on a typical district in Manila, giving us a slice of life in a community.

Since its successful inauguration last March 2015, the first set of featured films have debuted in various international film festivals. “The exposure of the filmmakers in other countries brings pride and honor to Sinag Maynila and to the Filipino Filmmakers,” says Festival Director Brillante Mendoza. As we welcome the new year, the independent film festival Sinag Maynila already has a line-up of films to be premiered this April.

Brillante Mendoza is one of the great film director in the Philippines and he has sixteen (16) films since 2015. December 17, 2015 marks the exclusive screening of four short films by renowned director Brillante Mendoza. Each proudly Filipino film captures ordinary people who have extraordinary stories inside the four walls of Max’s Restaurant. Two proudly Filipino icons come as one to turn life’s minute moments to some of our fondest memories. On its 70th birthday Max’s Restaurant collaborated with award-winning director Brillante “Dante” Mendoza to make this vision not only a tangible, but more importantly, a heartfelt and lasting reality.  The best part is that Direk Dante and his team handpicked these stories straight from people whose lives were made more colourful and worthwhile by The House That Fried Chicken Built. In the first short film, Tagpuan, Mendoza tackles how true love transcends the test of time: An elderly woman faithfully shares her special birthday meal to the love of her life in their unlikely tagpuan.

Did you know that Tacloban came from the word " taklub "? It came from a dialect called "waray" which means "trap" or "to cover". It is also an equipment for catching fish, crabs, and shrips by trapping them inside this taklub. Likewise, "taklub" was also used as a title for a documentary movie directed by the internationally acclaimed, award-winning director, Brillante Mendoza . The film features our very own veteran actress, Ms. Nora Aunor together with Julio Diaz, Aaron Rivera, and Lou Veloso. The film narrates the story of our dear Filipino citizens in Tacloban after being struck by the Super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). Genre: Drama SYNOPSIS Taklub is a story of three major characters - Bebeth, Larry and Erwin, whose lives intertwine after super typhoon Haiyan left the city of Tacloban in a horrendous state.  They search for the dead while trying desperately to keep their sanity intact, and to protect what little faith may have.

CENTER STAGE PRODUCTIONS, chaired by the 2009 Cannes’ Best Director, 2013 French Knighthood recipient (Ministry of Culture) BRILLANTE MENDOZA, will conduct its FILM PRODUCTION WORKSHOPS to start on March 31, 2014 at 947 Busilak St, Barangka Drive, Mandaluyong City. This is a one-week intensive course from 10AM until 5PM with participants producing a short film on its second week. There will be a culmination event where awards and prizes will be given.  The registration fee includes Lunch and snacks. The number of students per category is limited to fifteen participants only.  

Cinema One marks Mother’s Day with Brilliante Mendoza’s award-winning and internationally-acclaimed film, “Foster Child”. The film will premiere on the Blockbuster Sundays movie block of the channel. Written by Ralston Jover and produced by Robbie Tan’s Seiko Films, it sheds light on the experiences of poor families who are given abandoned babies to look after during the processing of the orphans’ adoptions. The movie stars Cherry Pie Picache, who took home a well-deserved Best Actress Award for her brilliant performance from the Gawad Urian, the Golden Screen, and the New Delhi International Film Festival. Cherry Pie played the role of Thelma who took care of the orphan John-John as a baby until he turned three years old—the age when the boy was set to be adopted.
