Cinema One Mother's Day Special : "Foster Child" By Brillante Mendoza

Cinema One marks Mother’s Day with Brilliante Mendoza’s award-winning and internationally-acclaimed film, “Foster Child”. The film will premiere on the Blockbuster Sundays movie block of the channel.

Written by Ralston Jover and produced by Robbie Tan’s Seiko Films, it sheds light on the experiences of poor families who are given abandoned babies to look after during the processing of the orphans’ adoptions.

The movie stars Cherry Pie Picache, who took home a well-deserved Best Actress Award for her brilliant performance from the Gawad Urian, the Golden Screen, and the New Delhi International Film Festival. Cherry Pie played the role of Thelma who took care of the orphan John-John as a baby until he turned three years old—the age when the boy was set to be adopted. As Butch Francisco of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino puts it, “The film belongs to Cherry Pie.” In “Foster Child,” the actress goes beyond herself in successfully depicting a mother’s love for a child that she did not give birth to. The film is a timely offering for Mother’s Day as it underscores the real meaning of being a mom.

Also delivering a spectacular performance, Eugene Domingo takes on the role of Bianca, a social worker tasked to pay regular visits to check on John-John’s progress. The versatile actress was nominated under the Best Supporting Actress Category in the 31st Gawad Urian Awards and won the title in the 6th Gawad Tanglaw Awards.

“Foster Child” premiered at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival Director’s Fortnight where it received a standing ovation. Acclaim was given to the film in over 30 international film festivals in Europe, Asia, the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

Catch “Foster Child” by Brillante Mendoza this Sunday, May 12 at 8:00 p.m., only on the Philippines’ number one cable channel, Cinema One (SkyCable Channel 56).

Maria Ozawa wants Pinoys in next porn film

MANILA, Philippines - Japanese porn star Maria Ozawa wants Filipinos as her screen (and bed) partners in her next movie. Ozawa said in her Facebook page on Wednesday that an audition will be held for Filipino men in January. "Mabuhay! Philippines!" Ozawa said. "I bought Globe sim!....audition for the bukkake will be in January," she added. She did not say if she is already in Manila but rumors of her visit to the country made rounds on Internet forums and adult blogs just before Christmas. "Hello guys! Who wants bukkake? Audition will be on January 2012," she repeated in her Facebook page, which is linked to her official blog. The post has received more than 10,000 "likes," 535 "shares" and more than 2,400 replies. However, no one has yet to take up her offer as of posting time. Ozawa has made several dozen adult videos and non-porn movies. Her last adult video was released in April 2010. The same year, Ozawa had t

Film Review : Just The 3 Of Us

My notes on Just The 3 Of Us: 1. The movie reminded me so much of this late 90's rom-com with Matthew Perry as a happy-go-lucky bachelor who had a one night stand with a sultry Salma Hayek in Vegas. She ended up pregnant, they got married, and then discovered each other's personalities while fixing family and work issues. It was called Fools Rush In and I would have asked you to rent it in a local Video City, but I think all of their stores closed ages ago. 2. In this version though, the girl CJ (Jennylyn Mercado) would rather stalk the potential father and be the emotional punching bag of Uno (John Lloyd Cruz) who had a bad temper (F-words everywhere!), an a-hole attitude ("So what? Buhay ko 'to. Kahit mag-swimming ako sa alak wala ka pakialam!"), crazy reasoning (he wanted to take care of CJ and the baby, but made her sleep on an uncomfortable sofa bed in the living room with poor ventilation), and a drinking problem that were all supposedly reasonab
