Insomnia is a twin-bill production staging an USTETIKA winning piece by John Michael Peña,“Writer’s Block” and a Rector’s Literary Awardee, “Good Mourning” by  Michelle Ann Ngu. To be directed by Mary Claire Aquino and produced by Ann Catherine Calingasan this May 9, 10, and 11, 2017. The time slots will be 1 PM, 3 PM, 5 PM and 7 PM at Tan Yan Kee AVR, Tan Yan Kee Building, University of Santo Tomas.

Teatro Tomasino, the official university-wide theater guild of the University of Santo Tomas (UST),culminates their 39th season:Let Thy Art Illuminate with a smash hit comedy-drama play, Kapitan Sino based on Bob Ong’s novel and adapted for stage by playwright Cyrene Mendoza on May 3-6, 2017 at the Albertus Magnus Auditorium, UST. The renowned advertising practitioner and former Teatro Tomasino Artistic Director, Franny Omampo directs the play as his energizing theatrical comeback.

27 year-old UP Diliman student and noted "iskolar ng bayan" named Leandro Alejandro was shot and killed in September 19, 1987. As the iconic student activist, Lean fought for national democracy in the university and in the nation. He is one of the unsung heroes who have sacrificed their lives during the turbulent days of the martial law. His life has defined an era of student activism and his work still inspires the youth today. Students of the University of the Philippines, being a state-funded institution, are called “Iskolar ng Bayan” or People’s Scholars. The description gained political weight during the First Quarter Storm (FQS) in the 70s, a time of discontent by a generation of Baby Boomers. The description also carried with it the aphorism “Serve the people.” Described as a Filipino left wing activist and nationalist, UP student leader Lean Alejandro actively fought the dictatorship in the 1980s. Theater Review : Dulaang UP' The Dressing Room

Once the spotlight fades to oblivion, the true stories of laughters and pain commence. Dulaang UP closes it’s 40th Theater Season by challenging both the intellect and affection, with the staging of “Ang Dressing Room: Kung Saan Lubusang Pangungulila ang Dulot ng Agos ng Panahon”. The play is a Filipino translation of a Shimizu Kunio original, “The Dressing Room: That which flows away ultimately becomes nostalgia.” The play shows 4 similarly different characters, each fueled by their own desire to take the spotlight as Theater thespians, but haunted by memories and limitations. Each character, simply named Actress A,B,C, and D, shares with the audience the lives they long for and how frustratingly hard it is to attain such stature.

Multi-awarded actor and director Roeder Camanag is set to lead an all-male cast to act as females in Dulaang UP’s “ANG DRESSING ROOM: KUNG SAAN LUBUSANG PANGUNGULILA ANG DULOT NG AGOS NG PANAHON” ---  a 1977 post-war Japanese play by Shimizu Kunio, translation adapted by Chiori Miyagawa from an original translation by John Gillespie and its Filipino translation by Palanca award winning playwright Nicolas Pichay under the direction of Alexander Cortez.

BILLBOARD  Billboard is a story of different perspectives and choices. We will be sent into the world of Caloy as he readies himself for another chapter in his life as a billboard worker, working with the experienced 40-year-old Mang Emong. The two have contradicting personalities. Caloy is curious while Mang Emong is practical. In the middle of their work, a car accident happens on the streets below them, with two different reactions, each makes a stand to act on what is right and what is wrong. Coro De Los Diablos After its successful run at the University of the Philippines last September 2015, Dulaang Laboratoryo’s Coro De Los Diablos is set to be staged this time at the University of the Philippines Los Baños in Laguna on March 8, 9 and 10 with 4:30pm and 7:30pm performances at the historic Charles Fuller Baker Memorial Hall.
