Anyone who has watched Gloc-9 at a live gig would know that one of the most well-received songs that get audiences on their feet is one of his oldest, telling us all to move our bodies and dance, to lighten the load of life. On his 17th year in the music business, and after seven full length all-original albums, Gloc-9 goes back to some dance rap, bringing with him Vinci Montaner of Parokya Ni Edgar. Montaner has taken a breather from band life, but said yes to “Businessman,” a dance tune that speaks of an uncanny love between a rich girl and a poor boy, and how this difference is bound by nation that allows this disparity.

Gloc-9 has outdone himself in Liham at Lihim

Last year, Gloc-9 scored big when he released his single Sirena (featuring Ebe Dancel) became a phenomenal hit and a critics’ favorite. Sirena, which tackles the life of gays in a different and inspiring light, also became the favorite collaboration song among the biggest live concert artists like Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Noel Cabangon, among others. The album Mga Kuwento Ng Makata, which scored a Gold Record award for its outstanding sales, also included the hits Bakit Hindi (with Billy Crawford), Hindi Mo Nadinig (with Jay Durias), among others. At this year’s Awit Awards, the label’s artists headline the list of nominees – Gloc-9, Noel Cabangon, Gary Valenciano, Sam Concepcion, Sponge Cola, Kamikazee, Parokya Ni Edgar, Ogie Alcasid, Christian Bautista, and She’s Only Sixteen. Gloc-9 leads with five nominations Album of the Year for MKNM: Mga Kuwento Ng Makata, and for Sirena ­– Song of the Year, Best Rap, Best Collaboration and Best Music Video.
