Japanese entertainment channel GEM is excited to bring the latest line of best Japanese drama and variety shows for this month.
Five programs are slated to be part of the channel's programming, namely: NINOSAN, Weakest Beast, Cops 'n Robbers, TOKYO alien BROS, and Way Too Kawaii.
Weakest Beast is one drama program that is surely make everyone fall in love. Written by Akiko Nogi and stars Yui Aragaki (Akira Shenai) and Ryuhei Matsuda (Kosei Nemoto), this drama follows the story of a perfect-girl who wants to break free from the usual-yet-painstakingly-maintained image, and a charming-but-cynical street-smart man. It was a romantic comedy that first brewed at a craft beer bar where working adults gather to unwind, as two strangers are set to take on a journey of thheir lives. The question: are they brutally honesty enough and can they follow their instincts and feelings to do so|?
Weaker Beasts marks the fourth timein which Aragaki and Nmogi worked together. On the other hand, Matsuda, best known for his portrayals as Bernadal in the Japanese sequel of The Raid, has less exposure on doing dramas but he's hopeful in taking the challenge.
“I believe everyonbe hs an unseen side of him and the portrayals of that side of him vary from person to person. Be it distinctive or vague, I hope to portray them in a style that is unique to Nemoto,” said Matsuda. “This role is going to be fun and I'm looking forward to it. I hope to portray the role of Kosei [Nemoto] based on my intuitive feelings of the character; a character that will speak whatever that comes from his mind.”
Meanwhile, Weaker Beasts will also mark the first time in over a decade for Aragaki and Matsuda to work together.
“It's been 11 years since Matsuda and I starred together in a movie; I am elated to work with him again and it is a treasured opportunity for me. Back then, I was still a high school kid. This time, I will do my best to showcase a different set of acting skills and not be a burden to him, said Aragaki.
