Hollywood Designer Alexis Monsanto Unveils Qin Dynasty-Inspired Couture at Bowers Museum Gala During Terracotta Warriors Exhibition
Renowned Hollywood fashion designer Alexis Monsanto will debut a breathtaking Qin Dynasty-inspired couture collection during the Bowers Museum’s fundraising gala on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Orange County. The exclusive fashion presentation coincides with the museum's landmark exhibition, "World of the Terracotta Warriors: New Archaeological Discoveries," making the evening a rare fusion of history, art, and high fashion.
Best known as “Hollywood’s Fashion Expert,” Monsanto brings his signature elegance, innovation, and artistry to this one-of-a-kind runway event. His latest collection, inspired by ancient Chinese imperial aesthetics, pays homage to the luxurious attire and opulent jewels worn by the noblewomen of Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s court. Elements such as mythological dragons, precious stones, and ornate embellishments inform the collection's rich color palette and intricate detailing.
Crafted in his Los Angeles-based Alexis Monsanto Atelier, the collection features hand-painted silks, Swarovski crystal embellishments, laser-cut fabrics, 3D textile treatments, and origami-inspired folds, pushing the boundaries of contemporary couture. The result is a visually arresting series of gowns that honor Chinese heritage while showcasing cutting-edge fashion design.
The gala, spearheaded by exhibition chair Anne Shih, will be a night to remember, combining global cultural exchange, luxury fashion, and philanthropic purpose. In a collaborative showcase of international craftsmanship, Monsanto will also feature red-carpet clutches from Belgian luxury house Delvaux and jewelry from Van Cleef & Arpels, adding another layer of sophistication to the evening.
Alexis Monsanto’s inspiring journey from the Philippines to the heart of Hollywood’s fashion scene adds depth to his already impressive credentials. A graduate of Otis College of Art and Design, Monsanto gained national recognition as a finalist in KTLA5’s Catwalk competition and later served as the station’s red carpet commentator. With a reputation as a "runway visionary" (LA Fashion Magazine), his work has graced LA Fashion Week, adorned Hollywood celebrities including Charlize Theron, Kate Beckinsale, Mariah Carey, and Olympic Gold Medalists, and continually sets trends with his theatrical runway presentations.
Don’t miss this unique celebration of Asian fashion, heritage, and artistic excellence—a perfect pairing with the world-famous Terracotta Warriors at the Bowers Museum this May.
