IPav, with support from Japan Foundation, Manila proudly presents “REVERIE” featuring Japanese Classical Guitarist Sachiko Miyashita in a concert tour on June 23 at the G/F Ayala Museum, Makati City.
Special guest is the Triple Fret, a Classical Contemporary guitar trio from the Philippines consisting of Jenny De Vera, Iqui Vinculado, and Marga Abejo.
Sachiko Miyashita is a Prize winner in the Andres Segovia International Guitar Competition and Tokyo Classical Guitar Competition. She is also a Recipient of Sapporo Outstanding Artist Award and Hokkaido Award for Culture.
Born in Sapporo, Japan. Miyashita began playing guitar at the age of seven.
Miyashita graduated from Hokkaido University. In 2003, she received a Diploma de Merito from Academia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy. She studied guitar performance under the tutelage of great guitarists - S.Fukuda, O.Ghiglia, E.Fernandez, P.Steidl, D.Russell and F.Cuenca.
In 1991, she bagged the 1st prize in the Classical Guitar Competition (Tokyo), and won 2nd prize in the 2002 Andres Segovia International Competition (Spain). In addition to her domestic concert schedule, she gave concerts throughout Spain, France, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, U.S.A., Korea, Thailand, Philippine - 26 cities in eleven countries. She has attended many guitar festivals as soloist and juror, in Europe and Asia.
Miyashita is a recipient of the Sapporo City Outstanding Artist Award, and also a recipient of the 20th Hokkaido Bank Art Culture Award. Her latest CD Le Depart was selected as "choice CD" in Record Geijutsu Magazine and topped the Yahoo! Japan sales rankings.
She is an instructor at Sapporo Otani University - Department of Arts, and is a member of the Japan Federation of Guitarists.
Triple Fret is a Classical Contemporary guitar trio from the Philippines consisting of Jenny De Vera, Iqui Vinculado, and Marga Abejo, all graduates of the premier music schools in the country, namely The University of the Philippines and The University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music. They attended master classes under Tomonori Arai, Alexis Vallejos, David Russell, Carlos Bonnell, Rafael Serrallet, Carsten Linck, Lester Demetillo, and other influential guitarists. They were awarded first prize in the Guitar Ensemble Category in the 2014 Tarrega Malaysia International Festival in Klang Malaysia and first prize in the 27th Japan Guitar Ensemble Festival 2015 in Tokyo, Japan.
Their most distinguished performances in Europe include the Tong Tong Fair (the biggest Eurasian trade fair in the world, Malieveld Park, The Hague, Netherlands), the SOL Guitars Festival (La Beneficencia Hall, Valencia, Spain), at the Guitarra Festival (Siguenza, Spain) in honor of world-renowned luthier Jose Romanillos, and the Palacio de la Guitarra, Japan. The group also performs for Filipino communities and embassies around the world. They also shared their music with the children in the Syrian Refugee Camp in the border of Syria and Turkey.
