The Ateneo de Manila University may consider moving out of Loyola Heights in Quezon City, its home for the past 59 years, the Ateneo High School principal revealed Friday. “Ateneo may actually consider moving to another campus,” said Fr. Raymund-Benedict Hizon, SJ, principal of the Ateneo High School, in a post using his Twitter account @RBHizonSJ. This year’s Philippine University Games or UniGames set Oct. 22 to 29 in Roxas City, Capiz will be a showcase of the finest student athletes in the country. It will also give the Philippine Sports Commission, the government’s funding arm in sports, a chance to discover and identify future members of the national pool. “The PSC is playing a more active role in the UniGames as part of our grassroots development program,” said PSC commissioner Jolly Gomez during yesterday’s PSA Forum. “It will allow us to see athletic talent among the youth, and act on their development during their formative years,” added the PSC commissioner. Revved up to take the pedal to the metal, De La Salle University’s solar-powered car, Sikat II is bound to take on and blaze through the Australian highways, as it races against 20 other cars in the World Solar Challenge. The country’s official delegate to the World Solar Challenge, Philippine Solar Team has 12 members who are students and professors of De La Salle University. Henry Sy-owned SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City will host the 75th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in 2012. National University, which will host the 75th UAAP next season, announced the MOA Arena will host not just the league opening but also majority of the elimination round games. The Final Four and best-of-three championship will also be held at the brand-new venue. “We want  students  and  schools  to take part in the action. We don’t want to limit the excitement to the players,” said NU athletics director Junel Baculi in a press conference at the SMX Convention Center of the SM Mall of Asia. The MOA Arena, a 20,000-seater venue with a big parking space, is already 85-percent completed. It will be officially opened in May next year. It will also host the NCAA starting next season.
