Othello by CAST: A Sold-Out Hit Returns for a Limited Run in Manila


Company of Actors in Streamlined Theatre (CAST) aims to present theatrical performances in the most intimate and cost effective way possible, enabling us to offer our tickets at a more affordable price to meet the economic challenges of our day and keep our doors open to new audiences just discovering the wonderful world of theatre.


After a sold-out run and several extensions accompanied by rave reviews, Othello is back! Directed by Nelsito Gomez, Shakespeare's timeless tale of love, deception, and jealousy resonates powerfully in 2025.


Othello follows the tragic story of a Moorish general who falls victim to the manipulations of his envious ensign, Iago, leading him to believe that his beloved wife, Desdemona, is unfaithful—resulting in devastating consequences.


We are delighted to announce that many original cast members will reprise their roles, including Tarek El Tayech as Othello, Gab Pangilinan as Desdemona, Maronne Cruz as Emilia, and Reb Atadero as Iago. Also returning are Rafael Jimenez as Rodrigo, Dippy Arceo as Bianca, MC Dela Cruz as the Duke of Venice/Lodovico, and Jaime Del Mundo as Brabantio.

Joining the cast is the talented Brian Sy as Cassio. An award-winning actor of remarkable skill, Brian promises to deliver an unforgettable performance that will captivate audiences.


Completing the creative team are D Cortezano for lighting design, Myke Salomon for sound design, Sarah Facuri for production design, and Missy Maramara for Intimacy Direction.

NO EXTENSION. MUST CLOSE MARCH 16, 2025.


All performances will be held in The Mirror Studios, 5th floor, SJG building, 8463 Kalayaan Ave, Makati, 1209 Metro Manila.


This hyper intimate staging allows for an audience of only one hundred (100) a show. This is a free seating, first come first served event. PHP 1000 PER SEAT.

Film Review : Just The 3 Of Us

My notes on Just The 3 Of Us: 1. The movie reminded me so much of this late 90's rom-com with Matthew Perry as a happy-go-lucky bachelor who had a one night stand with a sultry Salma Hayek in Vegas. She ended up pregnant, they got married, and then discovered each other's personalities while fixing family and work issues. It was called Fools Rush In and I would have asked you to rent it in a local Video City, but I think all of their stores closed ages ago. 2. In this version though, the girl CJ (Jennylyn Mercado) would rather stalk the potential father and be the emotional punching bag of Uno (John Lloyd Cruz) who had a bad temper (F-words everywhere!), an a-hole attitude ("So what? Buhay ko 'to. Kahit mag-swimming ako sa alak wala ka pakialam!"), crazy reasoning (he wanted to take care of CJ and the baby, but made her sleep on an uncomfortable sofa bed in the living room with poor ventilation), and a drinking problem that were all supposedly reasonab...
