Vic Sotto: My character as Enteng is also different here. He’s no longer the usual Enteng people are used to seeing

“Enteng Kabisote” will always be associated with Vic Sotto. Definitely, it’s one of the ace comedian’s most-loved characters on screen. Over the years, it has successfully built a cult following among a diverse range of viewers especially children. The material’s box-office appeal is like vintage wine which gets even better in the passing of times.
That’s why there’s always a strong clamour to bring it back on the big screen, something that Vic granted this 2016 with “Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers” which is jointly produced by OctoArts Films, APT Entertainment and M-Zet Production.

“Yes! I’m happy to pitch in to avid movie buffs the tenth installation of Enteng Kabisote on the big screen. I can say that it’s the grandest but hardest to mount, story and cast-wise. I’m hats-off to our directors Tony Y. Reyes and Marlon Rivera for coming up with a great entertaining film. They really did their best to make it another must-see just like its predecessors. Kudos to them! I’m very sure the public will love it,” he avers.

Many are curious how different the movie is from the previous Enteng materials.

“For one, we have to show something new considering that it’s our 10th sequel. Our loyal supporters deserve that. We made sure that the film will have a totally fresh look that even the so-called Millenials will get to appreciate it. The plot is very contemporary and there are a lot of scenes where they can relate well.

“My character as Enteng is also different here. He’s no longer the usual Enteng people are used to seeing. He evolved with the times especially since in the story, he is now an iron works magnate. He went with the flow, so to speak. So, my Enteng here has a wider reach or connection to the audience.

“He’s also got a new nemesis in the movie which is something new--- a viral mysterious game application whose aim is humankind’s digital manipulation. In order to defeat such menace, he needs to form a group of extraordinary unusual and elusive beings who happen to be outcast ‘engkantados’ whom for sure, the viewers will like. They’ve got to see it to understand what I’m saying!”

Apart from the story line, the Box-office King is proud of the project’s stellar cast.

“Here, I’m supported by my son Oyo Boy (Sotto), Epi Quizon, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Paolo Ballesteros, Aiza Seguerra, Bea Binene, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Ken Chan, Ryza Cenon, Cacai Bautista, Simon Loresca, Atak and rising Child Wonder Alonzo Muhlach. Joey (de Leon) will have a special participation plus the phenomenal AlDub love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.”

The charming showbiz icon has another winner up on his sleeves with “Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers.”

“The title says it’s our 10th sequel. I promise them it will be ten times the fun and excitement. The whole team: from Direk Tony, Direk Marlon, the producers (OctoArts, APT and M-Zet) to the cast, we feel proud and positive about our offering. It’s another major treat to the movie-going public,” says Vic.

ENTENG KABISOTE 10 and the ABANGERS opens nationwide on NOVEMBER 30.

Film Review : Just The 3 Of Us

My notes on Just The 3 Of Us: 1. The movie reminded me so much of this late 90's rom-com with Matthew Perry as a happy-go-lucky bachelor who had a one night stand with a sultry Salma Hayek in Vegas. She ended up pregnant, they got married, and then discovered each other's personalities while fixing family and work issues. It was called Fools Rush In and I would have asked you to rent it in a local Video City, but I think all of their stores closed ages ago. 2. In this version though, the girl CJ (Jennylyn Mercado) would rather stalk the potential father and be the emotional punching bag of Uno (John Lloyd Cruz) who had a bad temper (F-words everywhere!), an a-hole attitude ("So what? Buhay ko 'to. Kahit mag-swimming ako sa alak wala ka pakialam!"), crazy reasoning (he wanted to take care of CJ and the baby, but made her sleep on an uncomfortable sofa bed in the living room with poor ventilation), and a drinking problem that were all supposedly reasonab
