Teatro Tomasino, the university-wide theater guild of the University of Santo Tomas, kicks off its 38th theatrical season with a drama-comedy twin bill production titled “Panandalian” featuring Maria Kristine Roxas’ Traje de Boda: the 2004 first prize winner of Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Filipino one-act play division, and Njel de Mesa’s Huling Ensayo Para Sa Iyo. Panandaliancarries the theme of ephemeral redemption on our constant struggles in love and relationships.
The production will be directed by JC Ribuyaco.
Maria Kristine Roxas’ Traje de Boda transpires in a bridal shower that turned into an all-female friends’ bold and comical forum: opening up struggles in marriage, resolving issues with their husbands, and reassessing the role of being a woman.
In Njel De Mesa’s HulingEnsayo Pa Sa Iyo,Nagmamahal rehearses for his speech for the most momentous night in his life and in their life as a couple, with the aim of proving his love regardless of the assurance of the presence of his beloved.
Teatro Tomasino has been supporting Philippine theater for the past thirty-seven seasons by staging quality productions showcasing Filipino playwrights in order to give its audience a view of life on stage. For its 38th year, TeatroTomasino will be staging productions that uphold redemption in any form as its season theme “Revive the Fire” entails.
The production will run from August 25 to 26, 2015 with shows at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm; and on August 27, 2015 with shows at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm at the Tan Yan Kee Auditorium, University of Santo Tomas.
