Gray Matter showcases the human body as a complex mechanical-like machine

De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde sets to the stage of the Black Box Theater Patricia Isabelle Obial’s choreographed and directed Gray Matter, a non-narrative contemporary dance thesis production inspired by the human body and its senses, to be held on March 8 to 9, 2018.

Patricia Obial began her dance training at the age of five in the Academy One Music and Dance
Center under the tutelage of Cherish Garcia, Jeffrey Espejo, and Pamela Asprer-Espejo. She has under-taken the Royal Academy of Dance and the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet examinations from 2009 to 2013. During her years in Academy One, she has performed in various dance productions such as the Nutcracker, La Bayadere, Le Corsaire and Paquita. She is currently taking her college degree as a full scholar at De La Salle College of Saint Benilde under the Bachelor of Performing Arts Major in Dance program.

Gray Matter showcases the human body as a complex mechanical-like machine such that in our everyday lives, it is seldom that we see the importance of our senses that allow us to live our fullest potentials. The artist/director’s long-time interest of the human anatomy transformed these elements into a range of striking movements that aims to empower dancers and enthusiasts to feel more deeply and much more intelligently. It is a tribute to life in its entirety—to our body and its five senses. Gray Matter raises an awareness and reminds us ofthe importance we must value: the body and its senses.

Where: BLACK BOX Theater, 6F School of Design and Arts, De La Salle-College of Saint
Benilde
