10 Quotable Quotes Of Tanghalang Pilipino' Mabining Mandirigma

For someone who has seen #MabiningMandirigma on its gala show on its first run, to the second set a few months after...and even on its third run, it's quite inevitable not to have some memorable moments with this much acclaimed (and loved) steam punk musicale.

With that, I was able to compile some memorable lines from the play. Some of them were from the songs...some were lines from the characters. But needless to say, all of them are timely, and memorable.

(Mabini explaining why the revolution did not meet its goals)

(Young Pule's mother's song response to the sublime paralytic's song)

(Ilustrado's song, which is quite deceiving and ironic. They pledge their skills and knowledge to help the new republic, but it comes with a price)

(Mabini's mother's message while the latter was having deliryo)

8) "Pangalagaan mong huwag madungisan ang iyong dangal. Ang dangal ang ubod ng iyong pagkatao."

9) "Nasa pagkakaisa ang ating paglaya. Mahirap bang mag-isip bilang Pilipino?" (Mabini's frustration after Heneral Luna was killed)

(the epilogue song that sums it all)

I may be wrong with exact words uttered, and please send us a line if I wrote it incorrectly. After all, these were only memorized from my countless watching of the play. How about you, which lines from #MabiningMandirigma struck the nationalistic chord in you?

Mabining Mandirigma is on its last weekend December 16, 17 and 18 at the Little Theater, Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Film Review : Just The 3 Of Us

My notes on Just The 3 Of Us: 1. The movie reminded me so much of this late 90's rom-com with Matthew Perry as a happy-go-lucky bachelor who had a one night stand with a sultry Salma Hayek in Vegas. She ended up pregnant, they got married, and then discovered each other's personalities while fixing family and work issues. It was called Fools Rush In and I would have asked you to rent it in a local Video City, but I think all of their stores closed ages ago. 2. In this version though, the girl CJ (Jennylyn Mercado) would rather stalk the potential father and be the emotional punching bag of Uno (John Lloyd Cruz) who had a bad temper (F-words everywhere!), an a-hole attitude ("So what? Buhay ko 'to. Kahit mag-swimming ako sa alak wala ka pakialam!"), crazy reasoning (he wanted to take care of CJ and the baby, but made her sleep on an uncomfortable sofa bed in the living room with poor ventilation), and a drinking problem that were all supposedly reasonab...
