Don Papa Rum meet Michel Dame |
Michel Dame, a perky well-known bartender of Cocktail Boutique Netherlands, for a series of bartending shifts entitled “The Don with a Dash of Dutch” came here to share his knowledge and tips when it comes to Bartending. Together with Don Papa Rumevent held in Papa Loa last September 22, 2016. Don Papa Rum is a premium aged small batch rum from Negros Occidental.
The rum is first aged for over 7 years in Oak Barrels in the foothills of Mt. Kanlaon before being blended to perfection. With a rich smooth taste and just a touch of vanilla. Don Papa is just perfect straight on the rocks or in your favorite cocktail.

Michel Dame making a Daiquiri |
Dame taught us to make 3 cocktails. First is the Old Fashioned that is made out from Maraschino Cherries, Simple Syrup, Bitters, Orange Peel, and Don Papa Rum. Followed by the Dark n’ Stormy with a mix of Calamansi Juice, Ginger Beer, Mint Leaves, and Don Papa Rum. Lastly, the Daiquiri mix of Lime Juice, Egg whites, Simple Syrup and Don Papa Rum.

It isn’t Tea |
Also, they held a competition in making the best, unique, and the most awesome drink that you can do with the ingredients from the free bar. Me, myself, made a drink using Matcha Powder. To think, that’s so unusual to be with liqueur but I tried my best to match the Matcha into it. Using the featured product, Don Papa Rum and some Coconut Rum, Simple Syrup, Soda water, and definitely my subjected ingredient, Matcha Powder, makes a bit grassy and a little sweet with a light refreshing quality drink. I ended up naming my drink “It isn’t Tea”. Unfortunately, my drink wasn’t pick to be the winner of the competition.
