Best of Aliw at Resorts World


Resorts World Manila, in cooperation with Aliw Awards Foundation, Inc. and Tag Media & Public Relations, will present The Best of Aliw at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on Oct. 11.

The first of its kind in Philippine live entertainment history, the concert will bring together Aliw Entertainers of the Year, Lifetime Achievement awardees and Hall of Famers to raise funds for Aliw’s Welfare Fund for ailing and unemployed live entertainers and for the renovation of the Christ the King Parish, District 1, Quezon City.

To take part in the concert and to give back to the foundation, several Aliw awardees will perform in The Best of Aliw. They are Rico J. Puno, Dulce, Lea Salonga, Jed Madela, Lisa MacujaElizalde, Gerphil Flores, RJ Jacinto and Imelda Papin. Lifetime Achievement awardees and Hall of Famers Halili Cruz School of Ballet, The Angelos and Spirit of ’67 will also grace the show. More awardees have indicated their desire to participate in the fund-raising event and their names will be announced later.

Hall of Famer Freddie Santos is the show’s director. Media partners of The Best of Aliw are Manila Bulletin, The Philippine STAR, People’s Tonight, United Philippine News , Manila Times, Pinoy Blogger and Businessworld.

The show is supported by Retro, Crossover, EasyRock and Mellow.

Film Review : Just The 3 Of Us

My notes on Just The 3 Of Us: 1. The movie reminded me so much of this late 90's rom-com with Matthew Perry as a happy-go-lucky bachelor who had a one night stand with a sultry Salma Hayek in Vegas. She ended up pregnant, they got married, and then discovered each other's personalities while fixing family and work issues. It was called Fools Rush In and I would have asked you to rent it in a local Video City, but I think all of their stores closed ages ago. 2. In this version though, the girl CJ (Jennylyn Mercado) would rather stalk the potential father and be the emotional punching bag of Uno (John Lloyd Cruz) who had a bad temper (F-words everywhere!), an a-hole attitude ("So what? Buhay ko 'to. Kahit mag-swimming ako sa alak wala ka pakialam!"), crazy reasoning (he wanted to take care of CJ and the baby, but made her sleep on an uncomfortable sofa bed in the living room with poor ventilation), and a drinking problem that were all supposedly reasonab...
