Teatro Tomasino, the official university-wide theatre guild of the University of Santo Tomas, presents for its 38th season a stage adaptation of the legendary scriptwriter Ricky Lee’s acclaimed novel, Para Kay B, as its first major production.
It will be directed by Teatro Tomasino alumnus, Arch. Carlos A. Buendia Jr., and is rewritten for stage by renowned playwright Eljay Castro Deldoc – the man who penned the following original plays: Tanikala, Articulo Mortis, DahilIisa Lang angMundo, and Ang Favorite Book ni Jude.
Deldoc opens the play with the recurring preposition that according to statistics out of five people, only one will end up happy in his/her relationship—“Me quota angpag-ibig. Sa bawat limang umiibig, isa lang ang magiging maligaya.” Composed of five different stories of love, Para Kay Bexplores the different facets and perspective on the definition of love, loving, and being the beloved. It delves into the complexity of finding love and happiness amidst the harsh reality of life as each character struggles to find redemption in their own different versions of love. The play continually engages the audience into the colourful world of the eccentric characters until they question themselves, “Kasamabaakosa quota?”
Para Kay B runs from December 1- 2, 2015 with shows at 10a.m., 1p.m., 4p.m. and 7p.m.; December 3- 4, 2015 with a show at 7p.m.; and on December 5, 2015 with shows at 3p.m. and 6p.m. at Albertus Magnus Auditorium , University of Santo Tomas.
