In a DZMM Teleradyo interview, Cheng Muhlach (father of her cousin Aga Mulach) said that the 47-year old actress passed away at 6:15 a.m. She was battling a stage 4 breast cancer.
Family friend Shirley Kwan who is also the manager of Albert Martinez, Liezl's husband, said in a statement that the actress "peacefully passed away in her sleep."
"Liezl is surrounded by her beloved husband, Albert; precious children, Alyanna, Alfonso, and Alyssa; loving mother, Amalia; father Bobby; and her relatives at this time of love and grief," said Kwan
Last 2008, Liezel was diagnosed with breast cancer but she recovered. Three years later the cancer returned and metastasized in her lungs.
Her family said in radio reports that her funeral will be held at Arlington Memorial Chapels in Quezon City.
