Jessy Mendiola, The New Honorary Ambassador for Korean Tourism

“Maria Mercedes” star Jessy Mendiola flew to Korea last night to meet with the Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) for her ceremonial appointment as Honorary Ambassador for Korean Tourism. Jessy will immediately attend to her duties as ambassador in her five-day trip as she is slated to meet with KTO Chairman Charm Lee and go around the country’s famous tourist spots to promote Korea’s tourism to Philippines. “I am very honored and thankful that the KTO chose me as ambassador. The Koreans are very nice to me when I visited their country and they instantly became dear to my heart,” said Jessy. Gloc-9 has outdone himself in Liham at Lihim

Last year, Gloc-9 scored big when he released his single Sirena (featuring Ebe Dancel) became a phenomenal hit and a critics’ favorite. Sirena, which tackles the life of gays in a different and inspiring light, also became the favorite collaboration song among the biggest live concert artists like Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Noel Cabangon, among others. The album Mga Kuwento Ng Makata, which scored a Gold Record award for its outstanding sales, also included the hits Bakit Hindi (with Billy Crawford), Hindi Mo Nadinig (with Jay Durias), among others. Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) and Wansapanataym finalist for the International Award

ABS-CBN recently scored two international nods as “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK) clinched a nomination from International Emmy Awards 2013, while “Wansapanataym” was named finalist in the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prizes 2013. Upholding 60 years of greatness of Philippine television, “MMK” is nominated in the Best Drama Series category for its episodes titled “Manika” (starring Jane Oineza and Angel Aquino) and “Pulang Laso” (starring Carlo Aquino and Joem Bascon), which were both directed by Nuel Naval. “MMK” is the only nominated TV program from the Philippines. October is Museums and Galleries Month!

In celebration of Museums and Galleries Month, visitors of the CCP will be given free entrance to the Museo ng Kalinangang Pilipino at the 4th floor of the CCP Main Theater Building. Sikat II seeks podium finish in world solar race today

Glendambo, South Australia – The Philippines’ Sikat II has reached eight of the nine control stops of the 2013 World Solar Challenge, the global solar car race currently being held in the Australian continent.   The country’s representative to the biennial event travelled a total of 2,171 solar miles, keeping its third place ranking in the Adventure Class.  A solar mile is the distance traveled by a vehicle relying solely on the sun’s energy. Sikat II is expected to reach the finish line in Adelaide on October 11. Sikat II gets pole position in World Solar Challenge

Darwin, Australia -- Sikat II, the country’s representative to the 2013 World Solar Challenge (WSC) in Australia, reached another milestone when it placed first in its class during the qualifying round of the world’s biggest solar car competition held at Hidden Valley Raceway on October 5. The Philippines clocked 2:30.53, beating closest competitor Team Aurora of Australia which timed 2:32.95. There are five other solar cars participating in the Adventure class. This achievement earned Sikat II the pole position in the biennial meet, beginning October 6in this Northern Territory city and will end in Adelaide on October 11.  It covers 3,021 kilometers of the Australian Outback. This is the best performance of the Philippines in the qualifying round since it joined the WSC in 2007.
