GIVĒON releases new sophmore album BELOVED

“Giveon’s identifiable baritone voice, wrapped around relationship musings, has consistently cut through the vibe-centered and party-focused R&B that’s dominated the past decade.” – Associated Press

“Rich and authentic beloved BELOVED feels indebted to Al Green, Philly soul, the Jackson 5, and Blaxploitation soundtracks.” – Rolling Stone

GIVĒON’s return to the spotlight has featured his fourth Hot 100 chart hit, and widespread critical acclaim, including ‘4-stars’ from Rolling Stone. It now includes the release of the seven-time GRAMMY®-nominee’s second studio album, BELOVED, executive-produced by Sevn Thomas

GIVĒON’s award-winning and globally regarded R&B prowess has made its grand and official return today with the release of the singer’s sophomore album, BELOVED, available now via Epic Records. The album, led by “Twenties” and “Rather Be,” is a 14-track opus featuring a stable of producers that includes Jahaan Sweet and Sevn Thomas; the latter executive-produced the album.

“BELOVED is a complete encapsulation of the very transformative growth I experienced over the past 3 years. My trials and tribulations, the good and the bad, all helped formed this album. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating” GIVĒON says of his new album, his first full-length project since 2022’s Give or Take. Prior to its release, Rolling Stone awarded BELOVED with its rare and coveted ‘4-star’ rating, noting its commitment to ‘orchestral’ R&B. “Rich and authentic, Beloved feels indebted to Al Green, Philly soul, the Jackson 5 and Blaxploitation soundtracks.”

Spread out over the course of 14 songs, GIVĒON addresses themes of regret and longing, love lost and found, and self-exploration on BELOVED, with his mellifluous vocals leading the way. Eloquent string sections and enticing drum patterns adorn the album’s razor-sharp production, led by Thomas, Sweet and Maneesh.

“Twenties,” the album’s lead single, earned its reputation as flagbearer, netting GIVĒON his fourth chart hit on the Billboard Hot 100. The song earned high praise from The New York Times and Uproxx, and GIVĒON delivered a buzzed-about performance of the record at Prada’s official pre-Met Gala festivities earlier this year. The song’s viscous subject matter hasn’t deterred its popularity - a hallmark of GIVĒON music. “This story perfectly encapsulates the experience of investing your most precious years into love,” the singer surmises of his latest hit. “But unfortunately a love that expires.”

“Rather Be,” in all its rumbling bassline glory, achieved similar early acclaim. It was named to Esquire’s ‘Best Songs of 2025’ list and noted as a ‘Song You Need to Know’ by Rolling Stone. The recent collaboration with Teddy Swims, “Are U Even Real?” proved that even in a feature role, GIVĒON’s impact is seismic. The song was nominated for a ‘Best Collaboration’ BET Award and continues to rise up the Hot 100.

Drawing on lived experiences is a specialty of GIVĒON’s, and after over two years away from the spotlight, there’s much to catch up on. Dive into the latest from an R&B superstar - BELOVED is available now. Stream here.
