Dancing with Tchaikovsky: A Night of Russian Romanticism with the Manila Symphony Orchestra

 The Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is set to bring Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s timeless masterpieces to life in Dancing with Tchaikovsky, happening on September 27, 2025 (Saturday) at 7:30 PM at the Aliw Theater, Pasay City. Presented by the MSO Foundation Inc. and Standard Insurance, in partnership with EastWest Bank, this highly anticipated concert will highlight the grandeur, passion, and lyricism of one of the world’s greatest composers.

Audiences can expect an evening of elegance and drama with a repertoire featuring:

  • Festival Coronation March – Tchaikovsky’s majestic 1883 piece for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III, filled with brass fanfares and ceremonial brilliance.

  • Rococo Variations for Cello – A virtuosic work inspired by Mozart, showcasing the grace and technical mastery of the cello.

  • Sleeping Beauty Dance Suite – A collection of orchestral highlights from one of Tchaikovsky’s most beloved ballets, blending fairy-tale magic with classical sophistication.

The concert features internationally acclaimed guest conductor Alexander Vikulov from Saint Petersburg and cello prodigy Damodar Das Castillo, an MSJO–Standard Insurance scholar and award-winning musician with top prizes in prestigious international competitions.

As one of Asia’s oldest orchestras, the Manila Symphony Orchestra continues to nurture Filipino talent while presenting world-class performances. Now approaching its centennial in 2026, the MSO remains a cornerstone of Philippine music and culture under the leadership of Music Director Marlon Chen and Associate Conductor Jeffrey Solares.
