Teatro Pinas Review : Silent Sky

The piece narrates the possibilities that will happen if our mind will set aside barrier such as doubt, gender and other things that the society tells us we cannot do. The story is simple and yet has a very strong impact on how mankind fulfill its destiny, how we must follow what our heart's desires despite of all the challenges that comes our way.

It reminds its audience that we should never give up on what we wanted to have and do in life as our success will not happen if we will stop, sometimes we almost made it but a lot of factors made us give up and stop.

What I really like about the piece was, it doesn't point out or blame external factors that affects our decision making. It focuses on the self initiative, self motivation and following our aspirations. Not just that but it also tells the story of a family willing to support someone and sacrifice for ones dream and journey. It's also about brotherhood/sisterhood that no matter what comes our way, we have friends around us willing to help us on our challenges.

ABOUT

Silent Sky is written By Lauren Gunderson and directed by Joy Virata

Playwright Lauren Gunderson’s “Silent Sky” is based on the true story of the early 20th century astronomer Henrietta Swan Leavitt who, together with a group of female scientists, worked as a “computer” — women hired by the Harvard Observatory in the early 1900’s to painstakingly analyze and catalogue every observable star in the heavens.  Leavitt’s personal research over her many years at the Observatory led her to discover a pattern in the stars. It would become the first step in a cosmic ladder that would completely transform humankind’s understanding of the vastness of the universe itself.

Until then, the male-dominated field of astronomy had concluded that the universe ended at the borders of our Milky Way galaxy. It took one woman’s instinct and relentless determination to ultimately unlock the truth: that ours is only one of billions upon billions of galaxies.

“Silent Sky” takes us on Henrietta Leavitt’s journey of breaking barriers and defying convention in pursuit of knowledge, and bears witness to all the things she had to give up — love, health, and even her own conflicting dreams — in order to understand the wondrous secrets of the cosmos.

“Silent Sky” plays encore performances at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza on February 1 to 10, 2019. Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 3:00pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 3:00pm. Maria Ozawa wants Pinoys in next porn film

MANILA, Philippines - Japanese porn star Maria Ozawa wants Filipinos as her screen (and bed) partners in her next movie. Ozawa said in her Facebook page on Wednesday that an audition will be held for Filipino men in January. "Mabuhay! Philippines!" Ozawa said. "I bought Globe sim!....audition for the bukkake will be in January," she added. She did not say if she is already in Manila but rumors of her visit to the country made rounds on Internet forums and adult blogs just before Christmas. "Hello guys! Who wants bukkake? Audition will be on January 2012," she repeated in her Facebook page, which is linked to her official blog. The post has received more than 10,000 "likes," 535 "shares" and more than 2,400 replies. However, no one has yet to take up her offer as of posting time. Ozawa has made several dozen adult videos and non-porn movies. Her last adult video was released in April 2010. The same year, Ozawa had t

Film Review : Just The 3 Of Us

My notes on Just The 3 Of Us: 1. The movie reminded me so much of this late 90's rom-com with Matthew Perry as a happy-go-lucky bachelor who had a one night stand with a sultry Salma Hayek in Vegas. She ended up pregnant, they got married, and then discovered each other's personalities while fixing family and work issues. It was called Fools Rush In and I would have asked you to rent it in a local Video City, but I think all of their stores closed ages ago. 2. In this version though, the girl CJ (Jennylyn Mercado) would rather stalk the potential father and be the emotional punching bag of Uno (John Lloyd Cruz) who had a bad temper (F-words everywhere!), an a-hole attitude ("So what? Buhay ko 'to. Kahit mag-swimming ako sa alak wala ka pakialam!"), crazy reasoning (he wanted to take care of CJ and the baby, but made her sleep on an uncomfortable sofa bed in the living room with poor ventilation), and a drinking problem that were all supposedly reasonab
